Plus-sized Misadventures in Love!

Hands down, this one is a classic!

Yeah. I meant what I said. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. You will have ALL of the feels. I saw the live action first, and thought it was hilarious. Then when I decided to start reading manga I saw this and was just amazed. Then when story is SO much better here. I like that it’s not just focused on the fat confident vs sad sack aspect. It has a good base story and the evolution of the characters along with the story is both inspiring and thoughtful. Office drama, adult focused relationships, fashion, corporate intrigue, the cops, the author mixes it all together with a little Pollyanna optimism and it really works. I’m chewing my nails to the cuticle waiting for new chapters. Take my money, please!!!

Manga Classics: Jane Eyre

One more Jane Eyre under my belt.

Seriously, Jane Eyre is a thick ol’ book. I love it. I don’t know why. Rochester isn’t a good man, really.He’s shifty and a liar. But.. I suppose he gets it together by the end. The book is about Jane and how she lives and deals with it all. She’s strong and moral(weirdly entitled at times with the class system). This version is pretty good all being said. Very close to the Timothy Dalton old BBC TV series version. Yeah, who doesn’t like a young Timothy Dalton. Too pretty to really be Rochester, but I like the filter. Anyhoo… This is a good shortened version.

THE COMPANION-Full Color

Short and sweet

Cute little story. Nothing untoward. Because of the length the story line is a bit clunky, but you know where it’s going. Think of it as an Ad-Lib. Weird little creases in the story you get to fill in with your imagination. The art is decent. It would have much better if in a lot of blocks her eyes didn’t take up most of her face. All in all, a nice diversion. Thanks!

Totally cute!

I’m normally not someone that reads High School stories, but this one caught my eye. Love the artwork. The characters are nice and positive. Good communication arc with the leads and their friends. A nice, easy read.

Kinda gives me the ick…

This review contains spoilers. This whole story is supposed to be some ‘destined true love’ trope, but the underlying tone is creepy. Ten years of difference when you’re both adults is one thing, but when you’ve known the girl(through her dad) since she was a grade schooler it just gives me groomer pedo vibes. He marries her out of ‘convenience’, then basically holes her up in an apartment by herself for years while she grows up. When she finally asks for a divorce all of a sudden he wants to bone her and not divorce her. WTF? She barely speaks up against him and he just steam rolls over her personal autonomy. She thinks it’s love since he ‘looked out for her’ all those years. Did some 16yo girl write this? I’m dumping it. I can’t read this anymore. It’s grossing me out.

Lovin’ it!

Gotta say, I’m really enjoying this one. Adult people acting like adults(mostly!). It’s a nice slice of life dramedy with a bit of spice. I’m in!

Cute little story.

It’s short and sweet. A little bit of drama, a bit of romance, and nice artwork. Funny thing, it did hit on a few things women have to deal with in the work place and just every day BS patriarchy.

This one is seriously hard to read. I kept reading it mainly because it was free and I was wondering if it would get better. The art is fine, the story is difficult. I think the author may need some counseling.

This is such a charming little manga!

This is such a nice story. The evolution of both leads and their growing relationship is warm and heartfelt. And FINALLY a manga where the leads develop a wonderful relationship with COMMUNICATION! Shocking! Try this one. So far it’s not completely filled with rancor and feigning niceties. Even the side characters are warm and supportive of the leads. 5 stars for sure!!!

Easy read

Plot line follows the typical genre, but it’s what we’re here for, righr? Art work is nice. The updates are so sssllloooooowww to release is the only real negative to this story.
