The Abandoned Shabby Princess is Adored by the White Wolf Prince

USD 1.50 / 150pt
"Princess Caroline... you are my destined mate." Royalty in the Acasia Kingdom is discerned by their gold and silver hair, and elegantly blue eyes. However, the third princess Caroline, born with amber hair and black eyes, is considered a shame for the royal family. She has been locked away in a small villa, being made to do petty work that the maids normally do. One day, her father calls for her... and suddenly Caroline finds herself in the audience of Prince Lienhart, prince of the beastfolk of Toscarna. With his bright white ears and waving tail, he calls to her in excitement. It seems she is to be betrothed to him as his mate?!

    Story crams all tropes together
This review contains spoilers. This is an okay story. It tries to cram too many tropes together for so few chapters. It has the evil family who hate for no reason, evil sister, beast, fated pairs, everyone hates me, tsundere, bad prince, and so on. The story does drag a bit in the middle, it could have been fewer chapters. I am glad it is currently free to read. One good thing, it is a complete story with a meh ending.

    It is “fine”
It is exactly what it says on the tin. The abandoned princess is adored by a prince who is a white wolf. It’s a very straightforward plot with very simple characters and shallow dialogue. The art… gets the job done, right along with the literal copied and pasted portions of the castle town background. I mean, it’s hard for me to complain too much, given that I paid for and read the available chapters. I was mostly curious to see if it would do anything different (as this is a common storyline), but it really does not. Like a general outline of this sub genre of the abused heroine saved by a male lead who showers her with this inexplicable affection, it hits all the major story beats you might expect without really adding or subverting any of the details to make it stand out on its own. It is “fine.”

A waste of time not even animal ears can save
This review contains spoilers. If you wanted a revenge story, you won't find it here. If you wanted a relaxing romance, you also won't find it here. No one acts logically, if you like political intrigue you will facepalm through your skull. Every single character beside the main leads is comically evil, like in revenge stories, but they don't get any comeuppance at all. Not even that, they are actively being forgiven for abducting, poisoning and trying to MURDER a royal from another country. Our MC's "triumphant" moment is walking alone into enemies' territory and begging for an antidote, and then THANKING the guy who's behind that whole fiasco. Her sister, who poisoned her btw, says she needs to work even after marrying, and guess what? She does! It's triumphant though, because it's "for now". It's like an experiment just how much a supposed "feel good" story can make you angry.

They Don't Make Princes Like They Used to (But in a Good Way)
This title handles the princess swept off her feet archetype in a way that places the princess and prince roles in a state of vulnerability leaving me fairly refreshed after slogging through enough of the cliche we tend to find in fantasy/royalty. Having a discriminated princess be found by a prince charming who also faces discrimination, and allowing the two of them to contemplate the complications of their world while the reader isn't overwhelmed by all of this is honestly impressive writing. While the ideas that surround this manga are complex, the romance keeps things pretty grounded so that you can kick back and enjoy the cuteness of the couple while absorbing the more nuanced story notes!
