Story :  1945, Tokushima. Yodono's a cameraman visiting the base to photograph the special unit pilots. He's photographing them with only one motif in mind: "Young and admirable soldiers." During his time seeking to photograph that, one soldier in particular catches his eye. Shizuma Tanaka, flight petty officer first class, always smiles when looking through the lens. One night, Shizuma comes to talk with Yodono. Conversations progress beyond the camera, and Shizuma directly asks, "Would you try doing this to me?" The two know that they can't be doing this, but continue to feel themselves draw closer to one another in this first chapter to a series of various characters in various places, navigating the complicated space of the military during World War 2.

    Idk…mixed feeling…
The way author handles the emotions is sooo mature —just enough to get to the point without overly sentimental. I really enjoyed this work, but as someone from a country once invaded by Japan, I can’t help but feel guilt for emphasizing with the enemies… I am so conflicted now

ITS SO GOOD AND IM SO HAPPY THERES MORE
EACH STORY WAS SO GOOD AND CHAOTIC AND I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS AND I KNOW THERE IS MORE, WHICH MAKES ME HAPPY, BUT I AM ALSO GENUINELY ON THE BRINK OF TEARS BECAUSE IT'LL END AT SOME POINT. I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF WHEN IT DOES.

    WHAAAT
Umm... so i kept seeing this damn ad on instagram and i thought this actually looks kinda cute. So i read it and reluctantly paid, and i was pleasantly surprised! There are some elements that prooobably shouldn't be romanticized 😟 but the scenes are juicy and the plots are very interesting! Some are even really sweet 🌸 definitely read it 👍🏽

Review Spotlight!

Nittsu
A Very Complex BL
This title may be one of the most complicated BLs I've ever had my hands on. At first sight, you would think that this is some hyper-cringe pro-imperial Japan manga. After working on it though I was honestly surprised. The art style doesn't feel at all as if it is aspiring to feel charming or sexy, but the roughness provides a certain "taste" for the scenes that can be hardcore on occasion. It also feels like this sort of roughness in the art serves to make sure that there isn't any confusion over the author's stance on what happened historically. Things feel dark, sometimes horrific, and almost always bad in the way this world is depicted. It's a really good example of an author writing about something, but breaking down that thing as opposed to condoning or glorifying it. It also had me looking through historical research papers concerning man on man sexual relationships that occurred amongst Japanese POWs in Australian prison camps during World War 2... so there's that too I guess! The characters are all so broken and flawed... but they have their own incredible moments in this sort of warped way. The only way to read this one is if you're really looking for something to sit with and figure out for yourself. Not for the faint of heart!
