  ハーレクインは現代設定が多いのだけど、これはナポレオンの時代のフランス。ジャックがカッコよすぎてキュンキュン！時代背景もサラリと描かれているのにとても厚みがある。星合先生さすが！凄い！絵も綺麗だしラブロマンス好きにはこれは必見ですねー。

  時はベルばら世代の少しあと。ナポレオンと王党派対立と英仏の戦い。この時代背景だけでストーリーに惹かれる。生まれるドラマは星の数だろうが、敵なのか味方なのかそれさえわからずまず人命救助の勇敢な振る舞いが格好いいヒロイン。彼は彼で周囲に気を許すことのできない立場。二人は互いに好感を持っても、一定の節度。私が貴族ものを気に入っているところ、好きな気持ちと行動するのとは微妙に一緒でないところ。その中に二人の本当の愛情が詰まってるし育まれてもいるし、なにより、相手を思う気持ちの最も美しい結晶を見るような気がするから。ヒロインは逞しくて素敵だ。見事な行動力。自分の決断を支える信条に気持ちがいいくらい迷いがない、ウジウジのない明るさ。彼は冷静で自己抑制的でいて、内面に愛情を豊かに湛えている。二人とも機知に富み、トラブルに自分で対処できる能力の持ち主。この二人の組み合わせは最強だろう。どんな困難も乗り越えられる気がする。そんな二人の、内面に燃えるものを抱えながら、状況に沿って選択する行動は、歴史のうねりで個人がやれるその場その場の精一杯。離れ離れになっても、常に相手の身を案じながらの日々は辛かったと思うが、そこにスポットを当てなかったのは、明るいヒロインを扱うストーリーには合わなかったからか。英国から渡り、独り一家を支えるヒロインの境遇を知った彼の、そんなときでも前向きなヒロインに対するものは、リスペクトもあるように感じた。二人のパリ行きは、ヴェルサイユのニュースでなぁーんだ、となるが、その旅そのものを描きたかったであろうストーリーは楽しめた。HQはヒロインの家族にも光を残してくれるし、これだからHQは好きだ。安心して週末を過ごせる。
