KAI ASOU

Story :  Suddenly, her life was turned upside-down.... Kinaho lived alone until one day, her boyfriend Akito brought with him two young relatives: a pair of brothers who had just lost their parents. All at once, Kinaho finds herself living under one roof with not just Akito, but serious-to-a-fault eighth grader Toma and innocent five-year-old Haruhi. As the days pass in confusion, this group starts to forge a new relationship: a family... or something like it.

    amazing plot
This review contains spoilers. Reading Or Something Like It felt like slipping into someone’s half-remembered dream. It’s not your typical manga—it’s abstract, emotional, and a little surreal. The art style is soft but full of subtle tension, and the story doesn’t hold your hand. It drifts between reality and imagination, exploring identity, connection, and those weird, blurry moments in life when you don’t quite know how you feel.

It left me with more questions than answers—but in a good way. It’s one of those stories you don’t just read—you sit with it afterward, letting the mood sink in.

Not for everyone, but if you like introspective, almost poetic storytelling, it’s definitely worth a try.

A Sweet Tale of Found Family
This is the tale of a writer for whom motherhood wasn't on her radar, but supports her boyfriend's decision to take in his two nephews after their parents had passed away. She grows into her newfound role as a parental figure, but makes sure to stress that she doesn't plan on replacing their mother, and gives them the space to grieve. Little by little, the boys learn to be comfortable in their newfound family. A sweet read!

    Very Wholesome
I'm all caught up! I love slice of life reads, and its rare that I catch a somewhat serious one. I'm also glad that our minds were put to ease on this last chapter. They handled that so maturely. This is a great makeshift family, where everyone cares. Love to see it!

Found Family
A poignant, heartwarming, and deeply human story. Two boys lose their parents and get taken in by their uncle, or more accurately by him and his live-in girlfriend. They're not quite a real family, but as they learn to trust each other and as we see the kind heart the girlfriend hides behind her detached expressions, I can't help feeling like it'll turn out okay for these four.
