This manga goes beyond the typical zombie apocalypse story! I found the character development of the protagonist, Takemura, very compelling as he follows the pattern of a character who is only focused on survival but begins to help others not because he wants to, but because it's the only way he can make it out of situations alive. You only start to see the good in him as he actively chooses to help people more and more. That alongside the various mysteries that come up, like the intelligent zombies acting like humans, make it hard to put down. The stakes are even higher as relations between different factions amongst the people begin to break down. I can't recommend this title enough.
I initially thought this was just another average zombie manga, but I was completely wrong! Although I don't usually like the zombie genre, this one really sank its teeth into me. I can get worked up easily, but since the protagonist doesn’t get attacked by zombies, I was able to enjoy it without too much stress. Unlike typical superhuman heroes with unshakable morals, he’s quite normal and selfish, which makes him more relatable. As the plot unfolds, it evolves beyond just humans vs. zombies, introducing intriguing human vs. human conflicts. It really delves into the human psyche and what individuals are capable of when pushed to their limits. With mysteries like the origins of the infection, I found myself completely engrossed. Whether you’re a fan of zombies or not, the plot twists will leave you hungry for more!
