While the first chapter doesn't offer much information as to why her employer gave her time off to go to Japan or as to why she is there on her own wearing her maid uniform (I get that it's whole deal of the story but just because she is British, doesn't mean she has to wear her uniform while not on the clock), but what it does give you is an educational past time into the preparation and etiquette of eating Japanese cuisine. I also like the nod to OCD tendencies and the realism of her actions (when she was checking to see if she had locked the door.

Having a limited wardrobe to keep the title of this manga consistent and to remind the reader, she is in fact a maid. We follow the female lead enjoy her journey of trying typical Japanese treats such as anpan and milk or melon bread.
