That aside this is not miscommunication. It's no communication. The FL is braindead in the absolute worst ways even when people tell her that "hey that doesn't work" or even hearing from her beloved prince that he hates drill hair and heavy makeup and perfume, she keeps on with it.
Not that the prince is let off here either. He might not want to reveal his trauma of being harassed by a woman who was dressed like the FL (and I am underselling this for censor reasons) but he could just clearly tell her "I fully and completely HATE this style and I would never choose someone like you if you continue to dress like this." One sentence. One complete sentence. But does he say it? No.
This is very much a turn your brain off type story.
