USD 1.99 / 199pt
When middle school teacher Rika's lack of self-care catches up to her, she quits her job to recover her health and ends up taking a part-time gig at the local Chinese restaurant: no overtime, no take-home work, and two delicious employee meals a day. The owner Momose and his lack of brain-to-mouth filter prove to be a handful, but his amazing cooking shoots Rika's quality of life straight through the roof! This exhausted overachiever is realizing that being a "proper adult" is harder than it seemed... and her journey of healing might just come with a side of romance!

I love this slice of life so much!
Gave me a lot of perspective for someone who's also in their 30's reading this. Great life lessons. Graphic novels are made to read by all walks of life!! Growing up reading Shojo as a teen, but now as an adult it's not as relatable. I'm glad the author has this kind of story in mind that's relatable to people like me who still loves to read manga! Reminds me of another manga about an older lady who ventures off feeling like she was a burden at home from her kids who had their own family. She finds love but turns out the man was starting to have Alzheimer's and his daughter was pressed about him having a girlfriend at his age. Daughter forbid the lady to see him again and so much more adventures play out for the main character. I love reading slice of life stories like this and the one I just mentioned, very niche, yet interesting, exploring human feelings their perspectives, and how conflict plays out, and totally relatable!

    Cosy, sweet and very realistic
As someone with an Asian mom, Rika's mother in this series was so triggering.

Really sweet series that deals with family friction and work burnout in a realistic, sympathetic way.

    Lovely!
This is such a refreshing story, short but so mature and well developed. It was wonderful to see a female lead that was so relatable including the age.

Like if a warm bowl of soup was a manga
A soothing, relatable story about a woman finally learning to give herself a break. As someone who's been in a similar spot as Rika once upon a time, this one hits pretty close to home, but it keeps things light and focuses more on the warmth and healing than anything. It's a great look at all the different shapes happiness, family, and success can take. Plus, the domestic moments with Momose and little Hinata are so cute!!!
