Burned-Out Rika Can't Take Care of Herself

USD 1.99 / 199pt
When middle school teacher Rika's lack of self-care catches up to her, she quits her job to recover her health and ends up taking a part-time gig at the local Chinese restaurant: no overtime, no take-home work, and two delicious employee meals a day. The owner Momose and his lack of brain-to-mouth filter prove to be a handful, but his amazing cooking shoots Rika's quality of life straight through the roof! This exhausted overachiever is realizing that being a "proper adult" is harder than it seemed... and her journey of healing might just come with a side of romance!

    Cosy, sweet and very realistic
As someone with an Asian mom, Rika's mother in this series was so triggering.

Really sweet series that deals with family friction and work burnout in a realistic, sympathetic way.

    Lovely!
This is such a refreshing story, short but so mature and well developed. It was wonderful to see a female lead that was so relatable including the age.

A mature romance that hits in all the right places
This story celebrates the different paths that people choose and how they all have the potential to lead to happiness. I love how they confront many elements, thoughts and worries that adults have as they go through life, and how they say it's okay not to know exactly what you want out of life. What a breath of fresh air!

Like if a warm bowl of soup was a manga
A soothing, relatable story about a woman finally learning to give herself a break. As someone who's been in a similar spot as Rika once upon a time, this one hits pretty close to home, but it keeps things light and focuses more on the warmth and healing than anything. It's a great look at all the different shapes happiness, family, and success can take. Plus, the domestic moments with Momose and little Hinata are so cute!!!
