“My Ideal Girlfriend” is one of those manga that starts off feeling light and funny but slowly pulls you into something more layered than you expected. It plays with the idea of the “perfect” girlfriend—what that even means, and whether such perfection is real or just a projection.
The main girl is cute, a little mysterious, and definitely fits the "ideal" trope at first glance. But as the story progresses, it gets surprisingly introspective. The interactions are sweet and sometimes awkward, but in a very human way. You start to see the cracks, the insecurities, and that’s what makes it interesting.
It’s not super deep, but it’s definitely more than fluff. If you’re into romantic slice-of-life with a bit of self-awareness and a hint of psychological undertone, it’s worth checking out.
