USD 1.99 / 199pt
Ever since she was a child, Tsubaki's scarlet eyes have held a mysterious power that caused those around her to shun her. Despite this, she tried to live a quiet life, but her cousin, Kiyona, spread rumors about her "cursed" power and had her imprisoned. When plans to sell her are set in motion, Tsubaki steels herself and escapes. Prepared to throw her life away, she is unexpectedly rescued by Kyo, the heir to a distinguished family. Upon learning of the plot to sell her, Kyo decides to purchase her himself, as his night attendant. Tsubaki believes her life is over, but Kyo's unexpected kindness begins to change her world, little by little.

A short love story with lots of drama!
This review contains spoilers. I really adored the main couple in this story. I'm weak for a selfless protagonist with a pure heart, and Tsubaki is very that. Kyo rubbed me the wrong way at first, but I felt like his characterization improved more and more as the story continued, and I ended up really liking the way he was written overall.
Tsubaki and Kyo genuinely fall for each other, and they each make the other their number one priority. Tsubaki experiences a lot of growth, though she also experiences some truly awful situations. Kyo repeatedly comes to her rescue, always admiring how strong she remains through all manner of trials.
Themes of class divide, jealousy, revenge, and redemption (plus a little bit of supernatural ability that I wish had been explored a little more) came together in a plot that made my heart race and had me getting teary-eyed more than once.
There were a couple of hard-to-swallow redemptions; I love to see a tangled up arc where a would-be villain is revealed to be misunderstood or manipulated, or suspicion is misplaced, but I felt that there were too many of these crammed into such a short story, and none of them were handled believably. I think the actual main villain was predictable but appropriate for this type of romance, and I enjoyed seeing their defeat. Overall, I enjoyed this manga a lot!

My true MVP for this story is head housekeeper Miko 😤

    Interesting
Interesting read. It is overall an interesting story that I wished was fleshed out alittle more. For some parts of the story, it is abrupt and no clear resolving of that portion of the storyline.

The art is gorgeous!
I just can't get over how beautiful the art is. The character's motivations are just vague enough that they'll keep you guessing. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what some of these characters are after which just adds to the story rather than just padding it out. One of the biggest mysteries is the MC's powers which even she doesn't fully understand. It gives it the perfect setup for us the readers to view it the same way she does as she comes to terms with her powers as she learns about them. If you want gorgeous art plus a good story to boot, definitely give this a read!
