Chidori High is a boys' school that takes in the dregs of society with the lowest grades. Next door stands Kikyo Girls' High, where the wealthy, high-class families send their precious daughters. Chidori second-year Rintaro, who has a fierce face but a gentle heart, is helping at his family's patisserie when he meets a girl named Kaoruko. The two hit it off right away...but this blissful peace is quickly disturbed when Rintaro discovers that Kaoruko is actually a student at Kikyo. Worse, she doesn't seem to realize what a huge problem this really is! Will these two be able to forge a path for themselves, and sidestep the traps (metaphorical and literal) laid by their classmates?

    A "so-so" true story.
I think that the author of this story, was a GENIUS!!! This manga got it's own anime in no time! You should really read this book, if you haven't considered it already!

    Up to Vol.14 in Japan
While a social gap is the back drop to this story, what it really focuses on is the slow-paced growing friendship between the characters.

    Different worlds, same feelings
This review contains spoilers. An innocent girl who sees people for more than just their appearance and a guy feared by many because of how he looks, and because of this he isn't used to the girl's opposing perspective of him. Its a very dramatic series and very emotional oyu cant help but feel sympathy for the characters, as the point of its premise being its most unlikeable quality, the prejudice. The reason he did the thing he hates everyone doing is becuase it seems like thats all he's ever known. I could just tell that the FML liked the ML from the very beginning. But with the characters' self doubt it feels a lot less wholesome than what everyone makes of this series. It really makes you root for its characters, but it may've been better if it were just about a guy/girl pact rather than rivalling schools. The delinquents knock it down a peg too. It does have a rocky start, but the more I watched, the sweeter it became. The romance is great, the bromance is great and the bond he has with his family is also great.
