She grows into her newfound role as a parental figure, but makes sure to stress that she doesn't plan on replacing their mother, and gives them the space to grieve. Little by little, the boys learn to be comfortable in their newfound family. A sweet read!(3)

A poignant, heartwarming, and deeply human story. Two boys lose their parents and get taken in by their uncle, or more accurately by him and his live-in girlfriend. They're not quite a real family, but as they learn to trust each other and as we see the kind heart the girlfriend hides behind her detached expressions, I can't help feeling like it'll turn out okay for these four.
