This review contains spoilers. The amount of hate and vitriol aimed at the "commoner mistress" character is so off putting. Especially when you see the upper nobility and duke families talk of how they can manipulate the common folk into being okay with what's happening to them on a day to day by saying, look! You too could be like this girl, who we're secretly also tormenting into a spiraling mental break down! Also super upsetting that the personal maid of the main character basically said she wanted to kill the unborn child of the "mistress". Like? Who's side am I supposed to be on? Certainly not the main characters. I'm not saying the commoner girl isn't without her faults, but she's also an orphan with no money, family, or power, so yea, of course she wants her own fairy tale happy ending. It's just so weird how they all act the common people of the land hold no value or are even looked at as fellow humans to begin with, they act like they're disease ridden rats to be eradicated or cleaned up.
