This deserves 6 stars! Often full-color manga sacrifices details for a cartoonier look... this one is gorgeous in every way. Plus the story gets more and more intriguing as it goes on, with curses and political secrets and DRAGONS??
The child characters are adorable and fun (and I don't even like kids). The leads are angsty lonely people who grow stronger together and learn to trust and love. The princess is blunt but kind. A wonderful cast.
There are only a few things that could be done better. A little more proofreading/localization. At one point Lunia is called Runia. Grammar is not always on point. But despite that, it's still my favorite read in awhile. I will be on the edge of my seat waiting for an update!

Painfully cliche, but tropes exist bc they workA genius girl is forced to switch places with her villainous twin at school so everyone thinks she's incompetent. It's the same plot as The Woebegone Wonder Girl Wants to be Wicked only... not executed as well. It does take its own path, though. There's no arranged marriage contract or humorous misunderstandings. She wants to research magic tools and the prince is helping her achieve that goal. It's sweet!
The fact that they first met when she's 6 and he's 16 is a little creepy. Especially when it's described as a love-at-first-sight situation. But at least they wait until she's graduated high school for anything romantic to happen 😅

The mangaka wishes this was hentai (and so do I)This review contains spoilers. There is an inexcusable amount of dubcon/noncon for a "romance" manga. If this were hentai? Hey, whatever gets you off. But we're supposed to be emotionally invested in this couple and rooting for them? When the ML is sexually assaulting the FL at every turn?
The first time he does it, he regrets it and says he was over excited and made a mistake. Ok. Sure. Then he does it AGAIN to "protect" her by making her hate him?? Then later there's a magical excuse for why they HAVE to have sex even though she doesn't want it. His character growth is that he can't go all the way through with it (though he still assaults her a little). THIS IS A HENTAI STORYLINE. I'm not here for that in a softcore manga.
Well. If you love dubcon ecchi, this is for you.
For me, it's a solid B-

Strong protagonist... yet always a damsel??She's a 50-yo woman who's been studying magic for 30 years while her elf husband has been ignoring her. She's tough and wise, with powerful magic ability. At least, that's what we're *told*? What we're shown is her being rescued time and again by her neglectful husband. There's also just some casual dubcon, because they're in a loveless marriage but still doing it.
This title has so much potential to be interesting... I'm just disappointed with how stereotypical it's being.

GNC lead, no villain, battle couple, girl grushThis review contains spoilers. A familiar scenario at the beginning: the prince publicly calls off his engagement with a Wicked Woman and proclaims his love of the Innocent Girl. Usually, we discover that the Wicked Woman is actually Innocent, and the supposedly Innocent new love is secretly evil and/or the prince is also evil (or at least a cheater).
Yeahhhhhh so, actually nobody here is bad. Nobody's even holding a grudge about the misunderstanding. The "wicked" ex-fiance immediately becomes a Knight to continue serving the bone-headed but noble-spirited prince, and she's so happy to FINALLY get to live as her true self -- dressing as a man. It's a wonderful, sword-fighting adventure about discovering that your true self is your best self.
My only complaint is that it has potential to be a reverse-harem with lots of cute love interests, but is clearly locked into one guy (and while that guy sounds cool on paper, so far, he's lacking chemistry). Oh... And that the manga is on chapter 14, but the mangaplaza releases are up to 33.... WHY CHOP THEM UP SO SHORT??

weirdly sweet noncon story with a Yuri sideplotThis review contains spoilers. If you don't like noncon, this is not for you. ML rapes and assaults FL constantly... BUT THE THING IS... he only does it because FL was reincarnated into the body of his rapist wife, who used to constantly rape and assault *him*. He does notice the personality change, but assumes she's faking it as another of her schemes. FL is often caught on the receiving end of vengeance for her old self, and it seems ML is going to start protecting her. Hopefully the noncon will start to soften, but there are several chapters of it. It's not super brutal, more riding the line with dubcon. Still. This story IS messed up.
Oh yeah, it's an otome-reincarnation trope, and the FL of the novel falls for the FL (the villainess) instead of her husband (the ML of the novel & manga). Unclear how far the Yuri will go, but it's cute. Doesn't seem like it'll be reciprocated, but a girl can dream.

Noncon without plot & SS UniformI am all for PWP. I enjoy a good humiliation noncon. There are some titillating scenes... But they're hard to enjoy when the guard is wearing A LITERAL N*ZI UNIFORM. IT'S DISTRACTING. IT'S NOT SEXY. I would understand something vaguely fascist? He is a rapist prison guard after all. But an exact Schutzstaffel uniform is just... No. Why? It doesn't even make sense!

Honestly creepy. Lots of grooming..Yeah I mean what can I say? It's a hentai title about a girl who starts working for the prince when she's a 6-yo orphan and he's a teenager who turns out to have ALWAYS looked forward to making her his bride, and ravishes her without warning the night of her debutante ball.
It's not a hard noncon title, so in that way it's tame, but somehow her meek acceptance of suddenly being forced to bed with the man who raised her makes it all the more disturbing. It's not even like she ever fantasized about him before that night and was at least enthusiastic... he completely surprises her with sex and she's scared but unwilling to refuse him. Probably because he's her boss, and the prince, and raised her from a child, and on top of that might have mind controlling powers.

Typical teen lead with zero agencyWell folks, this is it. The tropiest of trope stories. An average school girl neglected by her family and bullied by her younger sister becomes the fated mate/"bride" of the most powerful and attractive of all the demon lords who rescues her and takes her to his mansion where she is doted upon, but also he's possessive and makes her quit her job. But don't worry, the unhealthiness goes both ways, because ayakashi are essentially emotional prisoners to their brides and can't refuse anything their bride asks of them.
Is this a power fantasy for young adults going through strife with their families and adolescent pining for bishounen? Of course. If you're in the target demographic, you might love this one.
Personally, I find "fated mate" stories to be an excuse for not explaining why the main characters fall in love to begin with, which is the best part imo. I also dislike the protagonist being rescued by a rich guy who is instantly in love with her, without having any agency of her own. It's a juvenile fairy tale, but a cute one that I did enjoy reading free chapters of. I actually wish there were more free chapters, but it's not good enough to pay to read.

An exciting drama with gangs and intrigue!Yes, it has a cute fluffy and dramatic romance. That is a given. But it also has an INTENSE B-Plot involving gangs, class wars, drugs, and addiction. TW for addiction. It gets heavy. A very well-written tale!

Autism-coded heroine. I need more of this story!!!This review contains spoilers. The trope: the daughter of the first wife is mistreated by her family & married off in her sister's place & melts her fiance's cold heart by being so pure and humble.
Ok but in this story the heroine is a SUPER GENIUS with photographic memory, socially inept and can't stop saying whatever she's thinking out loud. She thinks the handsome Duke will call off their fake engagement if he finds out she's not Wicked like the rumors say, so she keeps baffling everyone around her by loudly calling herself wicked and making honestly pathetic and cute attempts at wickedness.
It's SO funny and adorable. This title INSTANTLY rose to the top of my favorites list. I can't wait for the next update! [SHAKES MANGAKA] GIVE ME MORE!!! I AM A WICKED WOMAN AND I DEMAND MORE STORY pls if it's no trouble uwu

Tragic, hilarious, stupid, wonderfulThis review contains spoilers. If you hate miscommunication stories, you might hate this one. But it's truly wonderful. Unlike the typical trope of the cruel fiance being seduced away by the villainess, instead you have a thoughtless fiance who is BFFs with the genderfluid princess, accidentally making the main character assume they're in love. It's better than a story of cruelty and rejection. It deals with greater nuance -- how do you win someone back after they've written you off entirely? As the story points out, it's easier to charm someone who hates you than one who is indifferent. I'm certain it will end with a happy romance, but the fiance is going to have to work HARD to win her affection after the mess he's made.

Incredible story and no romance??? (Yet)Most of the manga on this site are romances with the same old tropes - a kind-hearted older sister is cruelly abused by her younger sister until a handsome nobleman rescues her. Ok, so this is basically the same story - kind-hearted girl, cruel family, blah blah blah. But so far? There is no guy. She's on her third reincarnation, so she's a wise old granny who sees the drama around her as the acts of cute children in their rebellious phase. It focuses a lot on non-romantic relationships and adventure and survival. It's like a typical mangaplaza title mixed with Delicious in Dungeon. It's absolutely wonderful. I am hoping there's a bit of romance later, but that will just be icing.

Fantastic role reversal; unhinged charactersLove: a "frail" princess secretly being a powerful mercenary. The wife being the strong one. Redeeming a scorned man through love and melting his heart. Nobody has parents who are cartoonishly cruel to them.
WTF tho: the cranky tsundere's arc being completed with enough velocity to escape Earth's orbit. Instantly melting into a puppy the first moment he experiences affection instead of having any kind of pushback or disbelief about it. The female lead instantly falling in love with him 90% out of pity the day they meet. Both of them being an unhealthy amount of obsessed with each other immediately.
I mean look, though. If what you want is a fantasy about protecting your devoted softboi husband with a praise kink, then this is your manga. This is IT.

Kind of subverts a trope but not reallyEvery one of these soap-opera-ey manga has a heroine who is abused by her family to a cartoonish degree and is rescued by a rich guy who falls in love with her pure, kind heart.
In THIS manga, the main character IS the wicked family member! WHAAAAT? Except, no. The abused heroine is forced to pretend to be the cruel family member so her abusive sister can play the victim role to win suitors. The "wicked woman" drops her act in chapter 1 and it never gets explored again except as a cruel thing her family did to her.
So, you could say they subverted the trope. Or you could say it's the exact same trope with 1 extra step.
But honestly? The story and characters have more depth than usual in these cheap romances. Supporting characters have their own arcs and there's a whole little murder mystery. The bar is low on this website, but this is one of the good ones. Love went into making this and it's an enjoyable little read.

Idk, maybe this one hits extra hard because my husband drove me to suicide once and then had to save me lol. It's just a sweet story and it might make you bawl your eyes out
