The Fox Lord's Bride ~ Taisho Romance Chronicles ~ Manga Reviews

This review contains spoilers. It’s a carbon copy of the anime. Similar lore, storyline, even the appearance of the main cast (in terms of the color pallet) is similar to the characters of My Happy Marriage. The differences is that they’re advertising the “Eastern Cinderella” theme that’s half baked. There’s yokai, the FL is the younger sister, the ML is a flirt, and the fem mc can sing.

The FL is called the seed of misfortune, that would need to die. Instead of being killed she becomes a servant. There were many reasons to off her but her parents kept her alive to use their mercy against her if she disobeys. Alot of the motivations for the antagonists are like this. They exist just to bully the FL around. The Older twin sister is a crazy person who torments her because she’s trash who doesn’t deserve any sort of happiness in her life.

There were story reasons as to why the FL of My Happy Marriage wasn’t born with any powers. In this manga, there are hints of the FL having powers even though everyone else says that she doesn't and has the powers to detect it. It just seems like to me that they broke their own rules to make the plot more compelling.

There are some charming moments in the manga like the flirty banter, the FL being an earnest cutie, doing things to make the ML feel better. Their initial meeting was rushed but the backstory made it justified.

If you like this manga, go watch My Happy Marriage instead of wasting your money on a copy banking on people who haven't watched the anime.
